Ärjänsaari – The Paradise Island of Lake Oulujärvi

Ärjänsaari is the jewel of Lake Oulujärvi. Its long sandy beaches and high sand dunes offer wonderful conditions for outdoor adventures!

Please note that the boat transfer requires a minimum of three participants. If the required number of passengers has not been reached 24 hours before departure, we will contact those who have already purchased a ticket. We will offer an alternative departure time or provide a full refund.

You can choose either a one-way or a round-trip ticket. Outbound and return tickets can be purchased for different days.

If you are buying multiple tickets at once and cannot purchase them for your desired departure, there is not enough availability on that departure. Please try another time.

When you select the number of passengers before selecting the date, the system will only show departures with enough space for your group.

Tickets must be booked at least 3 hours before departure.

When paying with an E-pass, outbound and return trips must be paid for separately.

Life jackets are included in the price. Sizes range from 5 kg to 140 kg. There are no life jackets for dogs.

Spend a summer day on Ärjänsaari, also known as Paradise Island. The island’s stunning sandy beaches, beautiful shoreline dunes, and pine forest landscape surrounded by the lovely Lake Oulujärvi offer unforgettable experiences.

A summer day on Ärjänsaari passes quickly while hiking, geocaching, trail running, swimming, or simply relaxing on the magnificent beaches and enjoying the sun.

You can also stop by to greet the island’s sheep, who “work” on the island from 8 June to 24 August 2026.

Ärjänsaari is part of the Rokua Geopark esker formation, which stretches all the way from Lieksa to Hailuoto.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on our boat.

One dog travels on its owner’s ticket; for additional dogs we charge €5 per dog.

The boat trip is approximately 4 km long and takes 5–15 minutes depending on weather conditions.

The summer café is open daily from 1 June to 23 August 2026, 11:00–16:00. The café offers coffee, doughnuts, ice cream, soft drinks, and sweets.

You can also rent sports equipment at the café, or even a bicycle, kayak, SUP board, or rowing boat.

There is a well on Ärjänsaari where visitors can fill their water bottles.

The cleanliness of the well water is tested annually.
